about

About this album:

Compositions for Re-Connecting Black Holes (by Dj Svn)

The illusion that we have to go far away to be blown away by some unleashed deepness is for years now classified as an old-fashioned state of mind. The present prophecy excels at reading and understanding one’s immediate environment and by doing so we honestly can say that Brussels-based Jean Delouvroy is one of those composers that make us shiver upon our spine. Undergoing his deeply naked sound-sculptures again and again, feels like being embraced into the truly micro-wonders of an exquisite coral’s zooxanthellae. Baring the thought ‘music for an open mind’, Jean’s compositions takes us from one galaxy to another, exploring the overwhelming experience of time travelling. The thin line between cosmos and cosmopolitanism re-connects as never before. In fact, it’s all so intense, one might consider to wiring the CD player directly into his auditory cortex. Therefore it’s simply an honor to be invited for writing down these liner notes about a yet to discover multi-talent, who seems to master the art of timelessness as his second nature.

(About this album)
This limited edition first double album of Brussels based composer/producer Jean Delouvroy could be categorized as "contemporary, experimental, drone, dark ambient". The composer is making use of sampling, electronics and acoustic instruments and transforms this in a complex interconnected web of layers that touches the senses. The listener is dragged step by step into a timeless psychedelic colourful and yet obscure world of visual energies.
The tracklist of the first CD breaths out a well balanced flow starting with the nervous cut-up violin samples of 'Sound Miniature #1', followed by the icy desolate atmospheres of 'Norden' to the Stanislaw Lem inspired science fiction novel 'Solaris' to the huge and powerful 'Drone in C' and ending with the Buddhist sounding 'Siddhartha'. Two short abstract piano improvisations and two guitar scapes are woven in between the pieces. The second CD consists of two long audio tracks that were a collaboration with the visual artist Johannes Braun (Jutojo collective Berlin). 'Teufelsberg' is an audiovisual live performance (premiered at Audiovisiva Milan 2004) that tells about microcellular organisms and energies of the post World War II on the Devils Mountain in Berlin. Besides lots of electronics and sampling a sort of violin concerto starts halfway the piece and mixes up in crescendo with the rest towards an explosive end. The second track 'Der Regenbaum' is an audiovisual installation (2006, premiered at Club 11 in Amsterdam) for 12 projectors and electronics and is visualising the Rain tree legend on a remote Island in the Atlantic Ocean.
